Anxiety and fear worse than ever? Channel a llama.
For many of us already dealing with anxiety, fear, feeling stuck in worrying mental loops during NORMAL times, these days it can be worse than ever.
But on a recent trip to the shores of Mendocino, CA, an expected set of epiphanies resulting from simply spending a few unexpected minutes amongst llamas — yes, those funny but majestic animals — has made all the difference in the world. And the effects have been lasting.
Allow me to share.
I’d like to introduce you to a llama named Molly. Take a look at the expression on her face:
Notice that calm, contented, letting-it-all-just-happen demeanor? And how about her sister llama behind her?
It’s not only llamas that seem to have this Stoic, sort of Zen calm. They don’t need to meditate every day, go to classes, use apps or stress out about how to calm down.
They just let things happen as they do, observe it all, and take it in stride. Particularly the things outside of their control.
They seem to innately know what’s within their control, and what is not, and just don’t seem to worry about what’s not.
If they can go make something happen, like seek shelter when it rains or avoid that person running towards them, they do. But they know…
